Located at 6 Bund (6 No.1 East Zhongshan Road), it was constructed in 1897 as the site of China Merchants Bank, which was the first bank established by Chinese in China at that time. The building is of brick and stone structure and is acknowledged as on one of the excellent buildings on the Bund. The Gothic roofs, along with the widows of various shapes and the Baroque pillars of different sizes, help to render the three-dimensional effect. It is also named Yuanfang Building.
